Pink Opal Necklace with Large Aqua Chalcedony
I made this pink opal necklace on a whim: I was already working with the small pink opals when my eye caught my collection of aqua-coloured chalcedony stones in my inventory. The pink/aqua colour combination appealed to me, so this necklace was born.
The faceted, pear-shaped chalcedony stone is dyed a pretty aqua colour, and is an impressive 20mm in length. I topped this stone with over 20 small pink opals. The opals flash blue, green and yellow in the sunlight, and they look best when clustered together like this. I used gold-filled headpins for this cluster of stones, which bring out the colour in the opals. I like the combination of bright silver, with tiny touches of warm gold. The pendant hangs from fine, sterling silver chain and tiny silver beads connect the lobster clasp.
Necklace is approx. 18" (46cm) long, but I can adjust the length for you if necessary.
Your jewellery will be packaged in a small gift box. Gift wrapping is available upon request.
What is Gold-Filled?
Gold-filled is an economical alternative to solid gold. By law, it has 1/20th by weight layer of 14 karat gold permanently bonded over a core of base metal. It is tarnish-resistant, safe for sensitive skin and unlike gold plate, it will not wear off. It is a great way to enjoy affordable gold jewellery.
