Mismatched Earrings with Shades of Gold
Mismatched earrings are so much more fun to make than matching ones! This pair of long gold earrings contains all of my favourite elements: sparkly gemstones, shades of one colour, and warm gold. They have been designed to coordinate, but not match exactly. The earrings combine smoky quartz, beer quartz, lemon quartz and champagne citrine: gemstones in all shades of soft yellow, gold and brown. The stones are beautifully faceted to catch the light, and the colours complement each other so well. At the bottom of one earring is a large, concave-cut whiskey quartz; at the bottom of the other earring is a unique carved lemon quartz. They are topped off with simple gold vermeil earwires.
Earrings are approx. 3 1/8" (7.9cm) long from the top of the earwires to the bottom of the last gemstone.
Note: These earrings are being modeled by the lovely "Megan" and have never been worn by a real person. Megan is life-sized and should offer a good idea of scale.

What is Gold-Filled?
Gold-filled is an economical alternative to solid gold. By law, it has 1/20th by weight layer of 14 karat gold permanently bonded over a core of base metal. It is tarnish-resistant, safe for sensitive skin and unlike gold plate, it will not wear off. It is a great way to enjoy affordable gold jewellery.
